Fruit and Nut Trees

There are three old apple trees on our property - planted by some wonderful soul years ago - that produce large crops of red and red/green apples. Since moving in we've planted apple, peach, pear, plum, nectarine, cherry, and paw paw trees, as well as english walnut, shell and shagbark hickory, and hazelnut. Now we water and wait.

Garden

Well, the garden is a work in progress and still sort of a hot mess. The zucchini grow like crazy, and the tomatoes got a blight this year and mainly fed just the chickens. Thing that have been working well include garlic, horseradish, carrots, beets, herbs, and squash. We need to work on the cucumbers, raspberries, corn, and peppers. We are on pretty heavy clay, but are adding compost and sand every year to help improve the soil.

Hops

Our little hop babies made it through their second season. They filled out and flowered like they were supposed to, giving us a decent harvest this year.  We look forward to watching them climb even higher next year.
